Christchurch

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un

On Friday the 15th March 2019, on the day of Jummah the Al-Noor Masjid and Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch were blindsided by a terror attack. The perpetrator, a right-wing sympathiser took the lives of fifty (at the time of writing), innocent people, simply enjoying the freedom of life.

The events that unfolded were unexpected as much as shocking, with New Zealand known for their tolerance and inclusiveness. The severity of the attacks reminds us of the world we live in.

By coincidence, Serendipity Tailormade are travelling to New Zealand on the 23rd of March as part of their small escorted tour programme. Christchurch is on their route and we reached out to our network to support a book of condolences which will be presented to the mosques insha'Allah.

Thank you for all your condolences left in the wake of the Christchurch attacks. We would also like to thank The Radiant Muslim, Nur Jihan Li for allowing us to publish her poem as well as Inky Little Fingers who have been amazing to turn around the printing of the book on such short notice.

We invite you to view and share the book far and wide to never forget and pray this will never happen again insha'Allah.
